Wakeman, Rick - Made In Cuba
Made in Cuba", presents Rick Wakeman with his band the New English Rock Ensemble performing to a capacity crowd live at the Karl Marx Theatre in Havana, Cuba. In April 2005, invited by the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Music Institute and the Swiss foundation, "Association Friends of Cuba" - Rock Keyboard legend Rick Wakeman traveled to Havana, to perform a series of concerts that will forever be recognized internationally as an enormous event for the Cuban people, and a historic moment marked by the importance of one of the first and largest official Rock concerts ever to be performed on the Island. This DVD captures the spectacular performance and the momentous event which will undoubtedly be worthy of an entry in the chronicles of rock music history. Wakeman devoted most of the concert to classic tunes from the 1970s, including songs from his "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" ('73), "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" ('74) and "King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table" (75) albums, plus a recent stage favorite from the "Out There" album called "Cathedral of the Sky" and the YES classics "Starship Trooper" and "Wurm".

A programme of songs by Alban Berg and K.A. Hartmann, powerful and poetic songs spanning a turbulent era, performed by gifted German soprano Juliane Banse, accompanied by Serbian pianist Aleksandar Madzar. Berg's early songs chart the young composer's metamorphosis from writer of late romantic love songs to master of the modern idiom. K.A. Hartmann's cantata 'Lamento' for soprano and piano is a demanding work; it has rarely been recorded but here sounds wonderful.

The Witmark Demos features 47 Bob Dylan songs recorded by the artist accompanied only by his acoustic guitar, harmonica and occasionally piano for his first music publisher, Leeds Music, in January 1962, and for his second publisher, M. Witmark & Sons, between 1962 and 1964. Listening to these recordings, one can trace Dylans dramatic growth as a songwriter from early traditionally-styled songs like Man On The Street and Ramblin Gamblin Willie through the social commentary of Blowin In The Wind, The Times They Are A Changin and Masters Of War, and the groundbreaking lyrical genius of Mr. Tambourine Man. All of these songs, and all the others on The Witmark Demos, were written and their subsequent demos recorded before Bob Dylan turned 24 years old. Among the many gems found on The Witmark Demos are 15 Bob Dylan songs that were recorded by the artist only for these sessions, and which have never been officially released to the public until now. These include the plaintiveBallad For A Friend, the civil rights era-inspired Long Ago, Far Away and The Death Of Emmett Till, and the poignant Guess Im Doing Fine. The Witmark Demos also features a deluxe booklet featuring in-depth liner notes by noted music historian Colin Escott, as well as rare photographs of Bob Dylan captured during the same period as these early recordings.
